THE STORY
Type 20 refers to a specification for pilot’s chronographs issued by the French Ministry of Defense. The unique feature of the Type 20 was the ‘flyback’ function, which allows the pilot to easily reset the chronograph hand, and quickly start timing a new event without the lag in time of pushing two more buttons. Other characteristics of the original Type 20 chronographs were: a 38mm diameter and 14mm thick case, a black dial with luminescent indexes and hands, a hand-wound mechanical movement with a power reserve of over 35 hours, a relative precision of + or – 8 seconds per day and finally, the capacity to withstand the running, stopping and resetting of the chronograph more than 300 times without causing any problems to the movement.
Established in July 1968, the EHRA 3 – Les FELINS (Escadrille d’Hélicoptères de Reconnaissance et d’Attaque n°3) helicopter squadron is the most “war proven” of the French Army Aviation (ALAT). The Type 20 EHRA 3 was designed in close cooperation with the squadron and combines a stainless steel case with black dial, orange 3/3 SQN logo and orange accents around the sub dials and minuterie ring. It is powered by our caliber AM2, developed and made by Manufacture AMT – Sellita’s customisation department for high-end movements – in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. All watches include two straps, cognac and grey suede. You may choose the strap you would like our watchmaker to attach. The other strap will be supplied in the box.
