A Truthful Re-Edition of the 1962 Airain Sous-Marine
“Crafted for adventurers and collectors alike.”
In 1962, Airain launched the original Sous-Marine, a diving watch that captured the adventurous spirit of its time. Today, the Sous-Marine Collection revives this icon with modern advancements, while staying true to its vintage aesthetics. Designed to endure the depths of the ocean and the challenges of everyday life, the Sous-Marine represents the pinnacle of durability, precision, and style.
Engineered in the ’60s. Rebuilt for Now.
The Sous-Marine Re-Edition stays remarkably close to the original 1962 design — from the case shape and dial layout to the distinct Parmentier crown locking system. Every element was studied, measured, and re-engineered where needed to meet today’s standards of durability, performance and finishing. Inside ticks a modern Swiss automatic movement, while materials and lume have been carefully updated for reliability without compromising vintage authenticity. What you wear is not a reinterpretation, but a faithful continuation — made for now.

Sous-Marine Poster
While exploring Airain’s archives, we discovered an original concessionnaire (retailer) poster from the 1960s, once used to promote the Sous-Marine. We have restored and digitized the poster in high resolution and reproduced it. A copy of this poster is included with every Sous-Marine watch as a tribute to the brand’s heritage.

Parmentier Crown
The original Sous-Marine was equipped with a remarkable crown: the ‘Parmentier Crown’. Developed in 1962, by Jean-René Parmentier, the invention was officially titled Capuchon & Joint sur Remontoir. Its ingenious construction, featuring a protective cap and integrated seal, ensured exceptional water resistance — a crucial feature for dive watches of the era. For the new Sous-Marine, we took inspiration from the original design and refined it with modern engineering — enhancing its functionality while preserving the spirit of the historic invention.

Lollipop vs. DNA Strand – What Sets Them Apart
Both the Lollipop and DNA Strand seconds hands are faithful to the original 1962 Sous‑Marine design — in fact, both styles were historically used. Crafted with 18-karat gold-plated hands and paired with ‘Old Radium’ Super-LumiNova, each version offers its own character.
The Lollipop features a classic round lumed tip, while the DNA Strand presents a more expressive split design that nods to Airain’s distinctive identity. Whichever you choose, both remain true to the original and were selected by our community through the CoLAB project.
